Going live is two screens. You set the live up, then the control room puts you on air. Open the set-up screen with GO LIVE at the top of the studio, or Create new live on Lives.
Set up the live
- Title, a short description and a cover.
- When are you going live? Now or Schedule.
- Who gets in: Free for followers, Pass required or Ticket.
- Choose destinations: the platforms this live plays on. Your BackstagePass room is always on. Destinations covers connecting them.
- Advanced settings holds Who hears about it and After the show.
Who hears about it
- Only people who can get in. On a free live this is the same list as the next one, so it can’t be picked.
- Everyone who follows you: “All your followers. Those without access see how to get in.”
- Don’t notify anyone: “A test live. Nobody is told.” Nothing goes out for this live: no Live scheduled, no reminders, no cancellation notice, no GO LIVE push or email.
The Notifying card counts the people who will be told: “You’re about to notify {N} fans by push and {M} by email.” The same count is what goes out at GO LIVE, and what the receipt shows after. Every fan’s own settings still apply.
Into the control room
Tap Continue (or Schedule it for a scheduled live). Nothing is broadcast yet. In the control room:
- Your camera and mic come up. GO LIVE needs your camera in the room.
- Check the platforms next to Ready on. Add today’s key for TikTok or LinkedIn in the Destinations panel.
- Open each platform’s live page first (YouTube Studio, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn’s Live Studio, X).
- Press GO LIVE. Your room opens, everyone in the waiting room walks in, the people you chose are told, and your platforms start receiving video.
- Press Go live on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X once their previews show you. On YouTube, check you’re live.
A scheduled live’s GO LIVE is greyed out until 30 minutes before its start time; hover it to see when it turns on. If LinkedIn is on the live without its key, GO LIVE asks first: Add LinkedIn’s key or Go live without LinkedIn.
The pro move
Stream the first 15 minutes everywhere, then cut the socials and finish backstage. The whole play is in the cut.
Each platform’s steps: Destinations.
